Any 267 Life Scout who is ready to start his Eagle Project should write up a two page "Helicopter Overview" of the project proposal. It should be on letterhead and sent to the Troop Advancement Chair. The Troop logo is on this page. Please use it to create a personal letterhead. You can email the letter to advancement@bsatroop267.org. It should be formatted as a PDF.
Here is some of what should be included in your letter:
What is your vision of what your project should accomplish
What is its purpose
Why is it needed
What is there now
How will the project benefit the beneficiary
How will the project be implemented/process/procedure
How long will it take to complete
What is the fundraising plan
Please make certain to include your contact information in your letter.
Upon receipt of your letter a meeting with the Troop committee will be scheduled to further discuss your project.
The project book is in a binder and has all sections (Introduction, proposal, plan, and report) completed, in place and each page in individual plastic sleeves.
All entries are done electronically with proper writing style, spelling, and grammar.
The contact list page is complete, accurate and up to date.
All required signatures have been obtained, prior to our first meeting. This includes Fundraising. Final sign offs when your project is completed.
The Fundraising form is complete and signed as required.
The invitation to participate flier to scouts and others contains your contact information, your Troop number and town and has your Troop logo on the top.

Maps, pictures, schematics, etc. are clearly labeled, included in detail and to scale if possible.
Project and fundraising event permission slips are included. Both samples and completed forms and the end of the project.

Project time sheets showing ALL man hours are included – with troop logo on top.
Sample thank you letters on troop letterhead to vendors, donors, contributors, and volunteers, including their service hours, are included.
Pictures. Many, many pictures of your project. Before, during and after.
All emails and correspondence regarding the project are to be included.
The “BSA Sweet Sixteen of Safety” is included and referred to.
The BSA Age Specific Tool Guide” is included and referred to.
The budget review demonstrates an understanding of all finances. Does your budget make sense??
Does the project and fundraiser demonstrate leadership?
If any chemicals or paint are used, include the SDS sheets in the project book.
Is YPT being followed? How will you make sure it is?
Are all BSA adult volunteers YPT trained?
Is there a specific review of the tools, equipment and supplies necessary to complete the project?
Is there a plan to provide food, snacks, and water to your volunteers?
How will you advertise your project? What about publicity?
Is there an onsite person who is First Aid trained? Will there be a First Aid kit on site?
Include direction and map to the nearest hospital in case of emergency.
Is the project realistically substantial and within the means and limitations of the scout and their volunteers?
Does the project include a realistic timeline for the completion of the project?
Does the project offer feedback and opportunities for questions, discussion, and reflection.
Did you include detail, detail, and even more detail? Can your project be completed in your absence if you are unable to attend?
Is your book logically organized and in sections with labeled tabs?
